"In a rare bipartisan appeal, 40 House Republicans and 60 House Democrats said Wednesday that the committee should consider additional revenue along with spending cuts as part of a deal to reduce deficits by $4 trillion over 10 years.
The bipartisan group, led by Representatives Mike Simpson, Republican of Idaho, and Heath Shuler, Democrat of North Carolina, sent a letter to the committee that said, 'To succeed, all options for mandatory and discretionary spending and revenues must be on the table.' The group did not recommend specific ways to change the tax code or reduce spending."
